Cable Car workers undertakes repair and maintenance for boiling lake trail
With an aim to boost the tourism sector and to preserve the natural treasure of Dominica, ‘the boiling lake trail’, the ABL Holding’s Cable car project crew is ensuring the regular maintenance and repair for the trail for the tourists.
It is to be noted that, having an access to the boiling lake has been proven as an obstacle for the tourists from across the world due to the rough terrains and environmental issues.
Amidst of the ongoing construction across the site, the workers on the cable car project are ensuring to take care of the repair and maintenance tasks that goes along the trail, keeping the safety of the tourists as their priority who are boarding for the hike for boiling lake trail.
Mentioning about the number of maintenance activities undertaken by the workers, Project Manager for the ABL Holding’s Cable car Project, Randell Gliege, said that, “Our workers are ensuring to keep up the work alongside trail. We are doing our best to clear the overgrown bushes along with repairing the walking paths and the bridges. We are also cutting the overgrown grass along with clearing the lanes to ensure the smooth drain of rainwater.”
Notably, as the Cable Car project has brought massive employment opportunities for the local community, which highlights their active participation in the maintenance efforts along with the repair of the trails showing their concern towards their national natural heritage.
Moreover, the smooth maintenance of the boiling lake allows the tourists from across the globe to embark on the trail with confidence.
According to few of the sources, there were rumors across the state that, if Cable Car project will bring any harm to the jobs of tourist guides. But, few of the tourists guide for the boiling lake trail, making the clarification on this, extended their active interest, watching the engagement of the Cable Car workers on repair and maintenance of the trails.
Not just limited to this, but one of the tourists guide, said that, “We are really amazed to see the progress that Cable Car crew is making on the towers right now. They are quite very fast and professional with their work. They are not just taking care of their towers, but they are ensuring the maintenance of all the things that are coming in between just like the hiking trails.”
“The Cable Car project is also working as dollar for the tourist guides as they take their tourists along with them to show the towers installed for the cable car, which definitely excites the tourists generating their interest to know further about the cable car” says the tourist guide.
While keeping in view about the maintenance of the trails across the Cable Car site, the Project Manager, Randell Gliege, ensures that, “As it is still underway, we will ensure the complete repair of the boiling lake trail and maintenance of it.”
At the same time, Randy Gliege, also informed about the other progress, made on the repair and the maintenance. Adding which, he said that, “We have done the repair and are doing the maintenance work on the trail hike near to the Waitukubuli National Trail.”
Along with this, the Cable Car workers have also repaired the decades old suspension bridge. They have put the cables, along with the strong shackles, ensuring the safety for everyone while walking on the bridge. Workers are not just repairing the damaged parts of the trails, but they are also engaging in the maintenance works as well.
Project Manager, Randy Gliege, further added that, “We are also making sure that the road leading to the construction site for the cable car must be in the well-condition and our workers are ensuring the regular cleaning and maintenance of those paths as well.”
As, the Commonwealth of Dominica continues to position itself as the eco-tourism destination, the project like the Cable Car highlights the significance of the tourism development.
